MARGAO: It was just another normal day for tribal women who gather by the roadside near Margao Police Station and surrounding areas to sell their seasonal vegetables and fruits; in fact, they had extra and larger sized mash melons on Sunday.
It may be recalled that Margao Municipal Council Chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudessai had decreed that the tribal community would not be allowed to sell their produce by the roadside as Margao already has three designated markets.
She had asked the market inspectors to form teams and evict the tribal women from the roadside. However, nobody came to ask the tribal women to leave on Sunday and hence they continued with their business gearing up to see what happens on Monday.
