Iva seeks time for 7th time to file reply in formalin laced fish case

MARGAO: The FDA official Iva Fernandes for the seventh time in a row sought time to file reply adjourning the hearing on the case relating formalin laced fish, yet again.
The complaint alleged that the official is being pressurized both by the Government of Goa and the FDA in this matter.
It may be recalled that the complaint had prayed for making Iva Fernandes a party to the case which was later objected by the police in their say. However, the court ordered that Iva be made a party in the case and directed to file her reply.
Adv Rajeev Gomes had filed the complaint and is being heard at the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Margao. Adv Gomes has prayed for a thorough investigation in the matter and action against the traders of the 17 trucks in which the formalin laced fish was brought to Goa.
Last year, during an inspection, Iva found that fish brought by 17 trucks from outside the State were laced with formalin sparking anger among the people.
