PANJIM: Boasting one of the strongest defence line in the league, Jamshedpur FC’s striker Izu Azuka will look to overturn their attacking woes as they take on FC Goa, at Fatorda Stadium, on Thursday.
Jamshedpur FC have managed to register five clean sheets in their eight outings so far, and have conceded least goals (4) in the league, making their defence, arguably one of the best. However, they have scored just four, which also makes them one of the least attacking side in the ISL. Out of the four goals scored, three were netted in by their Nigerian striker Izu Azuka.
“My first objective is scoring goals and making the maximum out of the opportunities on the pitch. This is football. We all want to score. Once the goals start coming definitely more goals will follow soon,” expressed Izu.
Izu Azuka put up a brilliant performance against Mumbai City FC, wherein he and his team registered two goals for the first time in the campaign. However, a late Thiago Santos strike denied them the win.
“The goals came in and it wasn’t a solo effort. It was a combine team effort. My appreciation goes to the technical team that has helped me a lot so far,” Izu said.
Playing against one of the most attacking side in the league, Izu believes his side will contain the Gaurs and pile further misery on their recent slump.
“All teams playing in the ISL are strong and it all depends what happens in the ninety minutes on the pitch. Playing FC Goa tomorrow, our main objective is to get three points. Everything is possible in football. It now depends on our concentration in the ninety minutes and hopefully we will be able to get the three points.” concluded Izu Azuka.
