BICHOLIM: In a shocking incident, a jail inmate who was housed in the shelter home at Narayan Zantye College of Commerce, in view of the lockdown, escaped on Wednesday night.
It is learnt that, besides others, 13 jail inmates were housed in the college after the coronavirus outbreak.
Four police personnel were posted to keep a watch over the movement of the jail inmates. On Wednesday night, one Shrikant Mallapa Yadar, originally from Karnataka and was serving jail term, on the pretext of having bath went to the bathroom and escaped from the shelter. Police have launched a search to trace the escapee.
He was in jail for committing a theft at Pernem.
