MARGAO: Janet Georgina Cardoso e Silveira was elected sarpanch of the Guirdolim Village Panchayat at a recently held election, at the panchayat premises.
Deputy Sarpanch Franky Rodrigues proposed the name of Janet while member Brian Pereira seconded it. The elections were necessitated following the resignation of sarpanch Malisha Carvalho on June 10.
Meanwhile, Rita Fernandes has resigned as the deputy sarpanch of Loutolim Village Panchayat and elections will be held shortly to elect a new person to that post.
