CURCHOREM: Curchorem people observed “Janta Curfew” on Sunday by staying indoors to counter the threat from highly contagious Coronavirus which has disrupted normal life in many parts of the country and killing number of people across the world.
As per the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, people stayed inside their houses and all the establishments including banks, petrol pumps except medical stores remained closed throughout the day.
The Catholic community did not attended Sunday mass as requested by the church authorities, but the Parish Priest of Guardian Angel church celebrated mass.
“People did not attended mass as per church request, but I celebrated mass without congregation remembering that with God all things are possible and praying that Jesus Christ wipe this virus completely and our patron Guardian Angel may guide and protect all the people throughout the world,” the parish priest said.
According to Curchorem police, no untoward incident was reported throughout the day and people observed the curfew peacefully.
Power Minister Nilesh Cabral thanked the people for supporting to observe the Janta Curfew by staying indoors. “Happy to see that everyone has cooperated and now hope that virus may soon disappear and life comes back to normal,” Cabral said.
“As coronavirus is spreading rapidly around the world and many countries are in serious trouble, Janta Curfew was good initiative of government to breaks the chain of the spreading virus. Happy to see people have volunteered to support this cause and stayed in their homes,” Sanjay Dessai said and urged all the citizens to collectively work to stop the spread of virus.
