Javdekar launches Digidhan Yojana

MARGAO: Union HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar today launched the Lucky Grahak Yojana and the Digidhan Vyapar Yojana at Margao Ravindra Bhavan.

MARGAO: Union HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar today launched the Lucky Grahak Yojana and the Digidhan Vyapar Yojana at Margao Ravindra Bhavan.
Interacting with the people, Javdekar said, “The entire world only 4% of the GDP is the cash component and India has 12% because of which 80% of transactions are in cash. This will give no receipts and there is tax evasion.”
“Digital transactions will stop the unscrupulous persons making us pay more for service and corrupting the system,” he added. 
The minister meanwhile distributed prizes for the winners of various competitions and also gave away Rupay cards for the new applicants. 
In a function held earlier during the day, Digidhan mela exhibition was inaugurated Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. 
On the occassion, Sharma said, “There are some doubts and questions raised regarding the digital transactions and they are being solved simultaneously. I expect the software to improve to such an extent that digital transactions become choice based and not compelled.”
On the doubt raised by the MMC Chairperson Babita Angle of charges being levied for transactions, the Chief Secretary said, “The RBI and Government is looking at the fact why extra charges have to be levied on transaction.”
Angle said, “I think there has to be a simultaneous development of infrastructure so that the idea penetrates deep into the society.”
