CALANGUTE: The Calangute police arrested a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan Rajvir Singh (43) from Dhimwali, Rajasthan for molesting and outraging the modesty of a woman at Calangute beach on Tuesday.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said that he received a complaint from a woman, a native of Mumbai, that she along with her husband and kids was at Calangute beach on Tuesday at around 4 pm. After some time they all entered the sea water to have a bath. Accused Singh who was also having bath in the sea water beside them approached her and touched her inappropriately and abused her with vulgar and filthy words thereby outraging her modesty.
When her husband questioned the accused, he assaulted him with fist blows due to which he suffered injuries.
The police immediately registered an offence under Section 354-A, 323 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested the accused immediately.
During investigation, it was revealed that the accused is posted as a hawaldar in CRPF and is currently deployed at Recruit Training Centre in Madhya Pradesh.
LPSI Sapna Gawas is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi.
