PANJIM: The Joint Electricity Regulatory Authority (JERA) has reduced the fuel and power purchase cost adjustment (FPPCA) charges for the next quarter giving relief to consumers in the State who were receiving exorbitant electricity bills.
An official of the Electricity Department said that the JERA has signed the FPPCA tariff which will be reviewed every three months. The officer said that electricity charges will be normal in the next quarter.
Electricity consumers across the State were shocked by the high bills but the department had later clarified that the large amounts were due to the FPPCA charges.
The issue was also raised by some MLAs in the ongoing Assembly session but it was clarified in the House that the increase is not in the main tariff which is with the government but due to the FPPCA charges.
