MARGAO: The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has invited suggestions and comments on draft Multi Year Tariff (MYT) Regulations, 2018.
The consumer forums of Goa have urged the people and also the public representatives to take part in the process of the formulations of the draft as it serves as an opportunity to have consumer centric regulations in place for electricity.
The GOACAN Consumer Rights forum has urged all the consumers and also the elected representatives to take part in the consultative process to formulate draft regulation which is consumer centric and the one that fixes responsibility to the custodians of this department. “Unlike the tariff revision hearing where they decide first and then take hearings, this is a chance where we can decide on what we want in the upcoming regulations,” said Convenor of GOACAN Roland Martins.
Martins has urged the Goa Legislative Assembly to have a discussion in the House regarding this formulation of new Draft Regulations.
The Draft JERC (MYT) Regulations 2018 are drawn up in accordance with the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003 for the State of Goa & Union Territories (Except Delhi) for the control period 2019-20 to 2021-22. The Draft Regulations have been uploaded on the Commission’s website www.jercuts.gov.in.
The suggestions/comments on the Draft Regulations have to be sent to the secretary of the commission Rajesh Dangui by July 24by post or email.
The Commission will conduct a public hearing into the matter of issuance of the JERC for the State of Goa & UTs (Multi Year Tariff) Regulations, 2018, on July 31 at 11.30 am in Delhi.
The venue for the public hearing shall be intimated on the Commission’s website, JERC Secretary for Goa said.
