PANJIM: A chemical company has
filed a complaint with the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC)
against the State Electricity Department for illegally using their dedicated
power distribution feeder for load supply to its consumers.
Deccan Fine Chemicals Pvt
Ltd at Corlim filed the petition before the JERC under section 94 of the
Electricity Act 2003 and JERC Regulation 2009 and 2010.
Taking cognizance of the
complaint, JERC, through an order dated August 16, has restrained the department
from tampering with or altering the distribution feeder of the company for
connecting power supply to other consumers. The department has been asked to
maintain status quo till the petition is disposed off and file a reply in the next
two weeks.
The distribution feeder was
installed by the company to maintain quality and reliability of electricity
supply and safe operations of their chemical plant.
The petitioner had pleaded that
the department be restrained from illegal distribution of power from their
feeder to other consumers and also from interconnecting two substations through
the company’s dedicated feeder.
The petitioner also prayed
that the department should not claim ownership rights on the feeder and that
the company would be the sole owner of it. The matter will next be heard on
August 30.
