MARGAO: Gold ornaments worth Rs 4.25 crore were stolen from a running train in Canacona, according to the Konkan Railway Police.
The theft was reported late on Tuesday night following a complaint lodged by a goldsmith from Panvel, close to Mumbai.
The complainant alleged that an unknown accused person stole the gold ornaments from a locked bag while they were travelling on the train.
An offense has been registered under IPC Section 379 read with Section 34. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are trying to identify the culprit.
