Jewellry shop burgled; cash,valuables worth Rs 2 lakh stolen

MARGAO, MARCH 30 In a major gold heist, unknown miscreants barged into a jewellry shop at Fatorda last nigh and decamped with gold ornaments and cash all worth over Rs two lakh.

In a major gold heist, unknown miscreants barged into a jewellry shop at Fatorda last nigh and decamped with gold ornaments and cash all worth over Rs two lakh.
The miscreants effected entry into the shop by breaking the lock of the window shutter. Gold ornaments weighing around Rs 240 grams besides cash of Rs 20,000 was lifted away from the jewelry shop.
A police dog which was pressed into service failed to provide any clue to the  Margao police investigating the case. Finger prints experts  were also pressed into service by the police.
Owner of Mayur Jewellers, Mayur Raikar told Herald that he was shocked to find the window shutter cut open. His worst fears came true when he entered the shop, only to find the goldl ornaments missing.
Margao PI Tushar Vernekar visited the spot and took stock of the situation.
This is a major burglary that has taken place in the Commercical capital in recent times.
Margao police are investigating.
