CALANGUTE: Calangute police have arrested Sanika Bage (27), a resident of Calangute and native of Jharkhand for grievously injuring a person with a chopper on Saturday outside the Tibetan market.
PI Jivba Dalvi said that Sajid Kader Faqir, native of Kankavali, Maharashtra complained that he had a quarrel with the accused over a petty issue of borrowing his mobile phone.
As the quarrel continued, the accused in a sudden rage picked up a new chopper and attacked the complainant causing him injuries to his head and other body parts.
Faqir (29) was shifted to Goa Medical College, Bambolim where police immediately visited him and recorded a detailed complaint. After which they registered an FIR under Section 326 Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Accordingly, the police trace the accused on Sunday afternoon and placed arrested him.
The police have conducted the scene panchanama and also recovered the blood stained chopper from the accused who is working as a dish washer at a hotel in Calangute.
