VASCO: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, on Friday said that though infiltration from across the Jammu and Kashmir border has been on the rise in 2016, as compared to last year, the Indian forces have succeeded in eliminating the infiltrating terrorists.
“Unlike in the past, there has been a major improvement in Jammu and Kashmir; the condition is under better control than it was earlier. I can say for sure that in the coming days, the situation will be under complete control,” Singh said, at a media interaction, onboard the newly-commissioned ship, Sarathi, of the Indian Coast Guard.
Stating that the Central government is trying its best to get the Kashmir situation back to normal, he said talks are on with the people to bring back peace in the valley. The Indian Army and Indian paramilitary forces have, to a large extent, managed to deal with terrorist activities, as compared to the previous years in the valley, he said.
Stating that an all-party delegation has been sent to the valley to study the current situation, he said, “the Jammu and Kashmir residents have for long tolerated injustice and unrest and the government is working towards controlling the situation and bringing it back to normal.”
In order to provide job opportunities to youth in that State, he said, the Central government has ordered recruitment of 10,000 Special Police Officers (SPOs).
“Development work is going on and the Central government has also funded all the development works,” the Union Home Minister said.
