MARGAO: Principal Sessions Judge B Deshpande on Saturday sentenced Somra Yadav to life imprisonment for murdering Mantri Marandi at the quarters occupied by the labourers working at the construction site of the new District Hospital at Fatorda on October 15, 2017.
He was also directed to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 and in default to undergo simple imprisonment for six months. Both the accused and the victim, natives Jharkhand, were working at the construction site of the District Hospital.
Public Prosecutor Ladislau Fernandes, who represented the State, examined 13 witnesses, many of whom were brought to the court from Jharkhand as they had gone to their native place after the crime.
