JMFC rejects bail plea of lawyer

PANJIM: Fearing tampering of evidence, the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Panjim has rejected the bail application of Adv Mujahid Shaikh, the accused who was arrested for burgling the Altinho court premises.

The Panjim police had arrested Adv Shaikh, a criminal lawyer for burgling the muddemal room of the JMFC Court at Altinho, Panjim, on February 1. The police had arrested Shaikh on February 3, and later recovered the robbed cash and valuables from his possession.

Accused Shaikh had applied for a bail before the JMFC Court contending that there was no evidence against him in the crime he is facing.

The court while rejecting his bail has said that as some of the robbed material, which is evidence in other cases is missing, he will not be granted bail.
