PANJIM: Bicholim Police have booked a Sanquelim resident for allegedly cheating a man hailing from the same area of Rs 7 lakh on the pretext of providing a government job.
According to the police, Mohammad Ismail Khakar from Sanquelim lodged a complaint stating that the accused identified as Satish Gawas fraudulently induced him to pay Rs 7 lakh on the pretext of providing a Lower Division Clerk (LDC) job in government department. The incident occurred in 2022.
As per the complainant, the accused did not give the promised government job and threatened to kill him when he asked the accused to return the money back. An offence has been registered under sections 420 and 506(ii) of IPC and further investigation is in progress, police said.
