PANJIM: The Congress on Tuesday filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Goa against Saket Arsekar, Joint Secretary to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, for allegedly violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

In a letter written to the CEO, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Vice-President Sunil Kawthankar has alleged that Arsekar, who draws salary from the public exchequer, was seen campaigning and actively participating in campaign of BJP South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo at an undisclosed location.

He has attached a photo along with the complaint letter which, according to him, was uploaded on Facebook page namely Pallavi Dempo Fan Connect on April 29, 2024.

Kawthankar has urged the CEO to immediately act in the matter and initiate necessary action against the government official concerned against Rules 5 (1) of the CCS (Conduct) Rules of 1964.

Along with the complaint, Kawthankar has attached a photo of Pallavi Dempo and her supporters which reads ‘Pallavi Dempo: A leader for Today, A Leader for Tomorrow’ and ‘Together, Let’s Build a South Goa That’s Fit for the Future!’.

Pallavi Dempo is BJP’s candidate for South Goa Lok Sabha constituency.

She has been pitted against Congress’ Viriato Fernandes.
