Joint Special Cells to monitor sound pollution

To oversee framework of noise action plan as per HC directives

PANJIM: The State government on Monday constituted Joint Special Cells under District Magistrate in both the districts to monitor sound pollution and to oversee framework of noise action plan as per directives of the Bombay High Court at Goa. 

Each Joint Special Cell will be headed by the respective Collector and higher officer of Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), Superintendent of Police (SP) of respective district and area Deputy Collector as members. 

The Joint Special Cells have been formed following the directions by the High Court of Bombay at Goa. The High Court by an order dated December 15, had ruled that the permission granted to Sunburn Electronic Dance Music (EDM) organisers were illegal and had asked the State government to immediately constitute a joint special cell comprising high ranking officials from the Goa Police, GSPCB and the SDM/Collector to ensure that the permissions are granted for such mega events in accordance with the notified Action Plan.
