MARGAO: Jose Roque X P Gracias Flor retired as Deputy Director of Tourism (South) after serving the department for 33 years. He worked for both the tourism department as well as the Goa Tourism Development Corporation.
Jose was working as a manager of Baia de Sol, a hotel at Baga when he won a prize at a fancy dress contest organized as part of carnival celebrations then. He met the then tourism director V A P Mahajan who was impressed with him and asked Jose to join the tourism department.
He initially joined the GTDC as Information Assistant when the corporation was formed and worked for about six-and-a-half years as manager of the then Tourist Hostels at Panjim, Vasco and Margao before joining the Tourism Department.
