CALANGUTE: The largest contributor to the proposed garbage treatment plant at Calangute, the Calangute Comunidade, has reportedly failed to get a representation in the junket European tour.
Though 37 members from North and South Goa are proceeding on a junket tour of Germany, Austria and Italy, the Calangute Comunidade, major contributor in terms of 22,000 sq mt of land, finds no place in the delegation. The Calangute Comunidade has objected to the decision of the State government for not taking them into confidence over the issue.
The comunidade in a letter to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has regretted non-inclusion of a single member of the body whose land will be utilized for the project. “It is ironic that you intend to use our comunidade land to install the garbage treatment plant without including a single member of the body, either to observe or study functioning of the plant,” states Calangute Comunidade President Agostinho Proenca.
“Though on your verbal request I had declined to be a part of the delegation as I am not a technical person, I had indicated that we can depute a technical person in case you are serious in setting up the garbage treatment plant at Calangute,” added Proenca.
