MARGAO: The Loutolim gram sabha held on Sunday evoked lukewarm response with just 18 members attending the meeting, including seven panchayat members. Nuvem MLA MIckky Pacheco also attended the meeting.
Gram sabha members strongly objected to the NOC granted for a housing project at Bonxar-Orgao with a member alleging that the builder has been moving file for construction piece meal having already constructed two such projects without proper garbage disposal. Villager Papan Prabhakar questioned as to why the builder has been moving file for individual building when the project is mega project which would cause garbage problem for village. It was also pointed out by the panchayat member Custodio Fernandes that projects put up by the builder in village earlier were not having garbage disposal site and causing problem to locals. Franky Monteiro suggested that the builder be directed to have a proper composting site at his project.
Meanwhile, addressing the gram sabha, Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco said that development works worth Rs 25 crores have been already sanctioned for Loutulim village which include development of roads, water supply, construction of retaining walls, etc. Mickky further said that he had already submitted a list of works sanctioned an that there should not be duplication in proposing development works. He also disclosed plan to open his office in Loutolim on May 15. The Nuvem MLA also said that collection of dry garbage in village would commence from May 15.
