PANJIM: With the COVID-19 daily positivity count dropping significantly, the Goa government on Thursday de-notified all the State-run hospitals as COVID hospitals, except for the Super Specialty block of Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) and the South Goa District Hospital.
Additional Secretary (Health) Vikas Gaunekar, in an order issued, has directed all these hospitals to shift their COVID patients to the Super Speciality block or South district hospital at the earliest.
“In view of the decline in COVID 19 cases in the State of Goa, government hereby de-notifies all the government hospitals as COVID hospital except Super Specialty Block of Goa Medical College and South Goa District Hospital, which shall continue to be government COVID hospital,” the order states.
“Consequent to above, the de-notified government hospitals shall shift their COVID patients to any one of the hospital at the earliest and resume their full scale normal activities as soon as possible,” it added further.
GMC, North Goa District Hospital-Mapusa, ESI Hospital, Sub-district hospital-Ponda and Chicalim sub-district hospital have been de-notified as COVID care hospitals.
The government has allowed private hospitals who have facilities to treat COVID patients, to continue with admission and treatment of such patients as per their capacity.
