MAPUSA: Porvorim police have cracked the rape and murder case of a woman who was found dead in the jungle area of Paithana, Salvador do Mundo on Tuesday.
Porvorim police had found the body of the victim lying in bushes in partially decomposed state. The victim is a 28-year-old native of Orissa who was staying with her male partner at Porvorim.
Investigations revealed that a 16-year-old juvenile and an adult male were responsible for the rape and murder. Police have nabbed the juvenile, while the adult is absconding.
Police also learnt that the male partner of the victim is a mason and is working at a nearby construction site.
When questioned the victim’s male partner as to why he did not report to the police her missing, he reportedly told them that he was under the impressing that she ran away from him.
According to the police, the victim was known to the accused who were friends of the victim’s male partner. The accused were working as labourers at a nearby construction site.
Porvorim have registered a case under Sections 376-D and 302 of IPC.
