MARGAO: Jyoti Sardesai has taken over as Director of Food & Drugs Administration as Salim Veljee retired from the post after over 30 years of service.
Jyoti becomes the first woman to take over as Director of Goa FDA. She is a post graduate in pharmaceutical science.
Jyoti joined the Department in 1992, as drugs inspector, after eight years of experience in a pharma industry. She was promoted to assistant drugs controller in 2005 and later on to Deputy Director in 2010. She has also been the designated officer for food licensing, public information officer, vigilance officer and public grievances officer of the Department. Jyoti has been actively associated with Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
