Kakodkar conferred Gomant Vibushan

Eminent nuclear scientist and former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission, Dr Anil Kakodkar was today conferred the first Gomant Vibushan Award-2010 at the hands of Governor of West Bengal and former National Security Advisor M K Narayanan.
Narrating the process which involves signing of ‘123’ International Civil Nuclear Cooperation at a glittering function at Kala Academy, West Bengal Governor Narayan commended instituting the Gomant Vibushan Award and said by giving this award to Dr Kakodkar, the State has made not only Goa but the whole country proud.
Lauding the contribution of Dr Kakodkar, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said, India will be self- reliant in power sector in the years to come due to his efforts. He requested Dr Kakodkar to take up the position of honorary advisor of Energy Security of Goa and also requested him to start a small centre of Bhaba Atomic Research Centre in cooperation with Goa University and National Institute of Oceanography for the benefit of young minds in the State.
Dr Kakodkar on his part said though he received several awards, this award was very special and dear to him because of the love and affection it carried.
Dr Kakodkar conceded to the request made earlier by the chief minister to advise on Energy Security of Goa. He said the signing of International Nuclear cooperation for national Energy security is the route to become self-reliant in energy security in next four to five decades.
