SANGUEM: Kalay villagers led by former sarpanch Kishore Rama Gauns Dessai on Saturday called upon South Western Railway officials to demand construction of a rail over bridge for at least two wheelers at the railway station.
The villagers pointed out that the over bridge was much required as people could not even go to the market when a train passes through.
In fact, this demand for an overbridge for two wheelers is a long pending demand and Kishore lamented that while the railways have constructed overbridges or under bridges, the people of Kalay were neglected.
The villagers also demanded that the entire railway station at Kalay be covered with sheets as presently only a tiny portion is covered and people have to stand in blazing sun elsewhere.
Engineer Sahoo of the Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, assured the gathered crowd that he would place their demand before the authorities and get them addressed as soon as possible.
Local sarpanch along with some panchayat members were also present during this discussion along with Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar.
