MARGAO: JMFC court’s senior judge extended the remand of Kamakshi Forex director Nilesh Raikar till June 27.
The accused was produced before the court on Tuesday for remand.
Meanwhile, the bail application of Raikar who is chargesheeted in the case has been withdrawn.
The bail plea, which was supposed to come up for hearing on June 23, will now be cancelled. His lawyer Adv Rajeev Gomes stated “The bail application of Nilesh has been withdrawn as he has been chargesheeted and we will file a fresh bail application later”.
The victims of scam were also present in the court premises. Raikar submitted before the court that intends to pay the victims but won’t be able to get the money if he stays behind bars as he needs to go to the institutions where his money and properties are mortgaged.
Speaking on behalf of some of the victims, Dixon Vaz said that the accused should submit an affidavit informing the court and victims the steps being taken to return their money within a specific period.
Dixon demanded that the passport of the accused be seized to prevent him from fleeing the country.
