VASCO: Former chief minister Digambar Kamat on Friday claimed that next the government in State would be formed by the Congress party, as the people have no alternative in the upcoming assembly election.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of opening the election office of Sankalp Amonkar at Headland-Sada. The office was inaugurated by industrialist Narayan Bandekar
“The people need change in the State due to the U-turns of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, since the last five years.  BJP government has miserably failed to fulfill its 2012 election manifesto and thus I am sure that the Congress will form the next government which will give good and stable governance to the people, without any U-turns,” Kamat said.
Replying to a query whether the Congress would accept the support of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) if it fails to get an absolute majority, Kamat said, “It is an hypothetical issue and the decision on whether to take support of MGP or from any other party will be taken only by the central leaders and I cannot comment presently on the issue.”
“There is a wave of change in the State and it is being seen in the support extended by the people in Mormugao constituency by rallying behind the Congress candidate Amonkar,” Kamat said.
Meanwhile, Amonkar appealed the people and his supporters to keep the tempo going till the election. He claimed that he would be winning Mormugao seat for Congress with thumping majority as people of Mormugao are upset with the way the incumbent MLA failed to support the people during their issues including WISL workers issue.
