PANJIM: Former Chief Minister and prime accused in the Louis Berger bribery case, Digambar Kamat, on Wednesday charged the BJP government of implicating him in the case in a bid to “humiliate him and seek revenge”.
“From day one of the case, I have been saying that I have nothing to do with it,” Kamat told media persons in response to a question. “The entire case is a classic framing of Digambar Kamat to harass me, humiliate me and take revenge. I am making this direct charge,” the Congress leader said.
“The case started on what basis? Some officers of Louis Berger defaulted the company and a case was filed against senior executives. To save themselves, one of the senior executives produced an email mentioning that some money was paid to a minister and officers,” Kamat explained. “There was no mention of my name or Chief Minister. It said a minister,” he clarified.
Kamat said that there is not a single signature of his on the Louis Berger file as the contract has to be approved by the Japan bank of operation. “No file has come to CM or Finance Minister,” he said adding, “In fact, Churchill Alemao’s signature is not there on the file.”
