Kamat’s close aide goes against him joining TMC

Former MMC chairperson claims betrayal by Congress

MARGAO: Margao Congress MLA and leader of opposition Digambar Kamat has apparently began to feel the heat of losing his close aides, as the three times Councillor of Margao Municipal Council (MMC) Doris Texeira has working against him in Margao, after joining Trinamool Congress (TMC). According to political experts Texeira’s movement would certainly affect Kamat as the elections are approaching.

However, reacting to the Texeira’s exit from Congress Kamat said that in democracy everyone has a right to do what they wish.

“I have no reaction to Doris leaving the Congress party. She is free to do so, as we live in democracy,” he said.

Speaking to Herald former chairperson of MMC, Texeira said that she has been betrayed by the Congress leaders, despite being a loyal soldier to the party and her local MLA.

Reportedly, Texeira is known as one of the close aides of Margao MLA since for the last many years. She was always at the forefront with regard to agitations and Congress programmes, especially issues related to women. Texeira was seen actively engaged in convincing and encouraging the women folk of Congress at the recently held Congress Margao Block Committee meeting, which was attended by party senior leader P. Chidambaram, and others.

“I was working for the Congress party for the last many years. No value to my service was given, despite being served the party dedicatedly. I was hurt and betrayed by the party leaders many times. And hence, it was a high time to move out from the Congress”, said Texeira.

She further said that she will work hard for the TMC in Goa because it is the party led by a strong woman leader Mamata Beneerjee.

“We have witnessed how much TMC is dedicated towards the betterment and empowerment of women. And hence, I will certainly fight for the empowerment of women in Goa and will see to it that women are given due recognition in the party,” she said.

Doris admitted that she is the frontrunner for the TMC ticket in Margao but waiting for the confirmation from the party leaders.
