The government advocate informed the court that no licence has been issued to the new casino. Advocate Aires Rodrigues had petitioned the court against renewing the licence to Golden Globe Hotels as the State cabinet had resolved in 2013 not to give any more casino licences or renewals.
Justice Mahesh Sonak, then adjourned the hearing to November 15.
Rodrigues, in his petition had said that the move of the State government to renew and grant an offshore casino licence to Kanda’s company was illegal and high-handed and had drawn the High Court’s attention to the 2013 cabinet decision not to renew casino licences.
