Amidst the ongoing issue of frequent power cuts in Karnataka, farmers in the state have resorted to unconventional tactics in their negotiations, where they brought a live crocodile to confront officials from the electricity board. The incident, which was captured on video and went viral on social media, occurred in the Ronihal village located in the Vijayapura district under HESCOM’s jurisdiction.
The farmers, frustrated by the persistent power disruptions, arrived at a HESCOM power station with a live crocodile to convey their demands for an uninterrupted power supply. Their intention was to vividly illustrate the genuine threats they face due to power outages, particularly the risks posed by dangerous reptiles such as snakes and crocodiles that venture onto their fields during the dark hours.
Furthermore, the villagers stressed the imperative need for continuous power supply, highlighting that the absence of electricity was severely impacting their crops. This concern was further compounded by the drought conditions experienced in various parts of the state. The crocodile involved in this demonstration was later safely released.
