VASCO: A large number of Karnataka natives are heading back home to cast their votes in Karnataka’s gram panchayat elections on May 29 & June 2.
According to information, over 10,000 people from Mormugao and over 40,000 from other parts of Goa left on Thursday. A few of them face demolition of their illegal structures at Baina.
“The Karnataka government has made voting compulsory recently by amending the Karnataka Panchayat Raj Act. This is one of the reasons that forced the Karnataka natives to take a break and cast their votes. My information confirms that over 50 thousand people who enjoy voting rights in Karnataka and Goa are taking part in the panchayat elections,” said a Karnataka native from Vasco on condition of anonymity
