VALPOI: Shaikh Sulaiman Karol, who is re-nominated as coordinator for National Commission of Minority Educational Institution, said he was nominated once again as the commission was satisfied with his performance and duty towards the minority community.
Addressing a press conference at Valpoi on Sunday, Karol, chairman of Unity High School Valpoi and Principal of Al-Jadeed Higher Secondary School Chimbel, said, “I was nominated once again for the high rank post because the commission was satisfied with my performance and duty towards the minority community during the last one year, mostly due to the initiative taken to establish Urdu DEd College in Goa and to help Urdu contract teachers for their reappointment.”
When asked about the ongoing issue of re-appointment of contract Urdu teachers, Karol, who was re-nominated as coordinator by the Ministry of Minority Affairs New Delhi for one year from August 2013, said the chief minister has assured him that all the contract teachers will be re-appointed soon, that is before or soon after Idd.
“The contract teachers will definitely get their Ramzan gift from the chief minister,” informed Karol.
Karol has appealed to the minority students to apply for the post of matric scholarship and the Maulana Azad Fellowship scheme online on or before September 5. The website is www.minorityaffairs@gov.in.
He said he is not only the coordinator for Muslims, but also for Catholic, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsis.
