PANJIM: Against the backdrop of its MLAs skipping the crucial meeting to stratagise for the by-polls, the Congress party has called upon its leaders across all the State to be united to revive the party.
“The NDA is all out using its forces to get power at any cost. They are going all out and it was evident during the recent Rajya Sabha election in Gujarat and Goa Assembly polls,” Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant Kavalekar told media persons.
He said that in both places, BJP was involved in MLA shopping to defeat Congress. “Like how our leaders stood behind MP Ahmad Patel in Gujarat, we all leaders need to be united and fight,” he stated.
“All Congress workers across the country need to stand united for the revival of the Congress party,” Kavalekar said in the presence of party President Shantaram Naik and other MLAs.
The Congress leader said the mandate that the people of Goa gave to the party in the February elections, will be repeated in the by-elections in Panjim and Valpoi. “We will win both the constituencies,” he said.
Earlier Naik, taking a dig at BJP Valpoi candidate and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, said the leader had failed to undertake any development in the constituency during the last three terms. “Valpoi is a totally neglected constituency. Performance of BJP will be questioned in Valpoi,” he stated.
