Kavalekar’s panel wrests Betul Naqueri from BJP

QUEPEM: Once again in Quepem taluka Opposition leader and MLA of Quepem Chandrkant Babu Kavalekar proved his supremacy by defeating BJP in the panchayat elections. It's a major setback for BJP local leader Prakash Shankar Velip, said sources.

QUEPEM: Once again in Quepem taluka Opposition leader and MLA of Quepem Chandrkant Babu Kavalekar proved his supremacy by defeating BJP in the panchayat elections. It’s a major setback for BJP local leader Prakash Shankar Velip, said sources.
Except Fatorpa Panchayat, BJP failed to show any impact in Quepem taluka.
BJP supported Balli Panchayat seating Sarpanch Alka Potdar, Seating Dy.Sarpanch Bhantu Velip lost in their respective wards. Out of seven panchayats in Quepem taluka, Opposition leader-supported panel won in five panchayats. Kavalekar panel made a clean sweep in Colla panchayat.
Besides that, his supported panel triumphed in Morpila, Avedem, Balli. Kavalekar also succeeded in wrenching Betul Naqueri panchayat which was in BJPs hand.
The Opposition leader had devoted his heart and soul to snatch Fatorpa Panchayat from BJP, but did not succeed in his move. Seating Sarpanch Sanzil Dcosta defeated Kavalekar supported Deepak Dessai by impressive margin.
Speaking to Herald Kavalekar said his panel will form the ruling panel in Avedem, Morpila, Colla, Naqueri Betul and with help of Cuncolim MLA supported panchas in Balli Panchayat.
In Barcem panchayat all Independent Candidates got elected.
Meanwhile local BJP leaders are claiming that they will form the panchayat body in Avedem, Balli and Barcem panchayat along with Fatorpa. Few BJP supporters said that some elected panchas had met CM Manohar Parrikar and took his blessings. On other hand all elected representatives and supporters of opposition leader met Chandrakant Kavlekar and clicked photos to show their support to the Congress leader.
In all seven panchayats voters have rejected old faces with few exceptions. Many panchayats will have young faces.
