QUEPEM: Kavita Gawas Desai has been elected unopposed as sarpanch of Xeldem panchayat. The post had fallen vacant after eight out of eleven panchas passed a no confidence vote against the previous sarpanch Dipti Naik.
All the eight panchas were present during the meeting held on Thursday along with PWD Minister and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, Quepem BDO Anil Naik and other officials.
“Nilesh Cabral has always backed us and all the development works will be carried out by taking everyone in confidence,” said the newly elected sarpanch.
