Kavita Kandolkar quits TMC after party dissolves Kiran Kandolkar-led State team

Fires all cylinders on Prashant Kishor and IPAC; Says Tivim people said they did not accept TMC and asked her to resign; Better to be independent than to be with TMC, says Kavita

MAPUSA: TMC’s Tivim candidate in the recent Assembly elections and Zilla Panchayat member Kavita Kandolkar quit the party on Monday, soon after the party announced that it would restructure the entire AITC Goa State Committee, virtually terminating the tenure of her husband Kiran Kandolkar as president of Goa TMC with immediate effect.

Firing on all cylinders, Kavita Kandolkar accused the IPAC and Prashant Kishore of only giving assurances that they could not fulfill. Kavita said people had come to her and said that people here (Tivim) did not accept the TMC and that she should resign. “Hence I resigned from the primary membership of the party,” she said.

She added, “The assurances given by IPAC and Prashant Kishor were not fulfilled. Payments that were to be done to people were not done and people started turning up at our doorsteps early morning. Taximen, banner printers and many other small vendors turned up at our doorsteps to collect the money. I did not like this, since we never owed any money to anyone.”

“I took the decision in the above context that we do not want TMC,” she said.

Asked whether it was better to contest as an independent rather than join TMC, Kavita said at that time people wanted an option, but people did not accept TMC.

“Thus far I was an independent in the Zilla Parishad and I will continue to be an independent. I do not blame the TMC. We had the party support and

people’s support but the assurances given by IPAC to the people were not fulfilled. This is the main reason I’m quitting,” Kavita said.
