MAPUSA: Rohan Kavlekar was elected unopposed as the chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council, on Wednesday.
Since Kavlekar alone had filed the nomination for the post of chairperson, presiding officer Shripad Arlekar declared him elected unopposed.
After his election, Kavlekar said, “I feel great because all the 20 councillors are with me as a team and this teamwork will continue.”
He assured to complete all the ongoing development works at the earliest and that all the major projects would be taken up on priority.
Claiming that 95 percent of sewerage works in Mapusa has been completed, Kavlekar appealed to the “people to bear with the inconvenience for more few days.”
He informed that all the entry points of Mapusa city would be beautified.
Commenting on the progress of Mapusa market project, he said that all the procedures of the project have been completed and that the council has allotted Rs 20 crore for the same.
