PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary Sunil Kawthankar said he will knock the doors of the High Court of Bombay at Goa to press for registration of FIR against Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the alleged scam pertaining to purchase of e-tablets under cyber-age scheme.
He said the failure of the Crime Branch to register his complaint against Parrikar, Sanguem MLA and Chairman of Info Tech Corporation Subhash Faldesai and others has forced him to take this decision. Kawthankar had received a communiqué from the CB informing that a preliminary inquiry into his complaint on February 17 reveals that it does not amount to cognisable offence.
“I was apprehensive that CB will register an offence but I maintained faith in the system. I had attached documentary evidence along with my complaint to CB despite which they have been seeking further evidences from me to substantiate allegations in the complaint copy,” he said while addressing the press at Congress house, Panjim, on Thursday. “I will approach the High Court,” he stated.
He charged Parrikar for attempting to cover up the alleged scam in various sectors.
The Congress secretary also accused Deputy Inspector General of Police O P Mishra for interfering in the case and working under the pressure of Goa government. “I am told through my sources that DIG Mishra met CM with the e-tablets case file assuring him he will manage the matter. DIG wants to get benefits from the BJP because of which he is not going ahead with the case,” he alleged.
Kawthankar also accused CM of double standards on corruption where he himself had said that FIR has to be lodged by police in a serious case.
