PONDA: Opposition Leader Pratapsing Rane has advocated the need to keep a watch on industries involved in the manufacture of spurious drugs.
He was speaking at the farewell programme of the first batch of 12 M Pharm students from PES Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Farmagudi-Ponda, on Tuesday.
“People try to make quick money by manufacturing spurious drugs. We need to come down heavily against such people and you (pharmacy students) will also have to fight the menace by bringing this to the notice of the authorities,” said Rane.
“Sports also need to be compulsorily included in the curriculum and I urge authorities to work in this regard. I feel sports is missing in the State curriculum,” he said.
“Apart from classroom studies, students also need to be active participant in sports. There are numerous benefits a student can get through participation in sports,” added Rane.
On the occasion, college magazine ‘Pharmaspark 2013’ was released and the new college website was launched.
Former chief minister and PES President Ravi Naik, Navhind Publication Executive Director Pallavi Dempo, industrialist Gurudas Natekar, College Principal Dr S N Mamle Desai and others were present on the occasion.
