PANJIM: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday expressed confidence that his party will form the next government in Goa and provide a corruption-free government.

Addressing a public rally at the Bandodkar ground, Panjim ahead of the ensuing Assembly elections, Kejriwal said, “I have come with Goa model of development. We will give first corruption-free government and there will be total zero tolerance towards corruption and not a single rupee of State coffers will be allowed to be siphoned off.”

Kejriwal alleged that the MGP, Congress and BJP governments in the past had been corrupt. Stating that the people of Goa gave the regional party MGP 17 years, Congress 27 years and BJP 15 years to govern, he appealed to Goans to give a chance to AAP for five years. “If we don’t provide good governance, then throw us out,” he told the crowd.

Pointing to MLAs indulging in defections, Kejriwal said, “Goa is a first class State absolutely with third class politicians. Goa deserves much better politicians,” and added, “I don’t know politics but I know to work and govern.”

Kejriwal assured the people of Goa that mining operations will be restarted within six months of AAP coming to power and till then each family of the mining dependents would be given Rs 5,000 per month as remuneration.

The AAP national convenor charged that neither the BJP nor the Congress were interested in resumption of mining activity in the State which was stopped 10 years ago as they lacked intention. “We will restart mining activity within six months of coming to power,” he reiterated.

Criticising the BJP government for the alleged job scam and bribery charges in the recruitment in government departments, he promised people that the AAP government would provide jobs to unemployed youth without taking money. “All unemployed youth will be given remuneration of Rs 3,000 per month till they get government job.”

Commenting on the situation of the Congress, he said there used to be horse-trading but now MLAs are being sold.

He also assured the people that AAP will provide 24×7 water supply, free electricity up to 200 units and will implement all the guarantees given to the people.

Others who spoke included AAP Goa convenor Rahul Mhambre, former ministers Mahadev Naik and Alina Saldanha, Amit Palekar, Pratima Coutinho, Vishwajeet K Rane, Ramrao Wagh, Venzy Viegas, Cecille Rodrigues and Rajesh Kalangutkar.
