The Principal District and Sessions Court in Ernakulam on Monday acquitted Malayalam actor Dileep in the 2017 actress rape and abduction case, concluding an eight-year trial. Judge Honey M. Varghese delivered the verdict in open court, convicting Pulsar Suni (A1), Martin Antony (A2), Manikandan B. (A3), Vijeesh V.P. (A4), Salim H. (A5) and Pradeep (A6) for rape, conspiracy, abduction and related offences under multiple IPC sections. Their sentence will be announced on December 12. Dileep, listed as the eighth accused and alleged conspirator, was acquitted along with A7, A9 and A15. The case stemmed from the February 17, 2017 abduction and assault of an actress in a moving vehicle near Kochi.
