MARGAO: Ramakant Khalap on Thursday demanded to know from Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar the discrepancies in Rafale deal.
“Why were you left out of such an important deal?” he questioned. Alleging that the Rafale deal is a scam, he taunted Parrikar referring to him as “so-called defence minister” and asking whether he really played any role in defence of the country.
Parrikar continued his attack on Parrikar by questioning whether he was aware that while Parrikar was on TV announcing the deal, the prime minister was doing another deal with the French company. “Does your return to Goa have anything to do with this episode?” he asked Parrikar.
Wishing Parrikar good health, Khalap said, “The nation needs an explanation from Parrikar regarding his role in the procurement of the aircraft. According to Parrikar, the price of each aircraft was Rs 750 crore whereas according to the deal that is inked by PM Modi the price is Rs 1667 crore,” he said.
Clarifying that he is not questioning the strategic part of the deal, Khalap questioned why Anil Ambani was given the contract instead of HAL and what was the reason for the price difference between that quoted by Parrikar and the deal made by Modi.
