PONDA: The Ghodegalpar-Khandepar locals were furious over the illegal dumping and burning of medical waste in their locality.
The locals expressed concern over dangerous waste being dumped and thereafter set afire in the open space and demanded that the Ponda Police conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter and book those responsible.
The villagers alleged syringes, needles, blood stained clothes and other medical waste was dumped at the site.
Residents pointed out since the government has set up Medical Garbage Treatment Facility at Kundaim, there is need to treat all kinds of medical waste here. They locals demanded a system to ensure that the hazardous medical waste is not dumped in open spaces as it poses risk to others.
