PONDA: Curti-Khandepar residents have threatened to agitate on the streets if the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) does not move its organic waste converter out of the village within a month.
Objecting to the project at the gram sabha, the villagers informed that the stench emnating from the plant site Kerya, Khandepar, is unbearable.
The villagers also opposed the parking of trucks on the village roads as it hindered traffic and posed a threat to motorists and pedestrians. They also demanded action against those illegally collecting fees from truck owners to park their vehicles.
Deputy Sarpanch Nagesh Naik informed that the panchayat had sent several memorandum to the RTO, Tranport Department and other government officials to act against the erring truck drivers, but no action had been taken yet.
The villagers also opposed a compound wall that had encroached on a road in Curti and discussed other developmental works.
