PONDA: Khandepar locals have welcomed the installation of CCTV cameras on both the bridges on Opa-Khandepar river. The demand for installation of CCTV cameras was a topic of discussion at every Curti-Khandepar gram sabha. Taking note of it, the panchayat body led by Sarpanch Sanjana Naik took the initiative for installing CCTV cameras.
The locals said besides giving a sense of security, installation of CCTV cameras would also help to track those dumping garbage into river. Sandeep Parkar had welcomed the decision of Curti Khandepar to install CCTV system.
Parkar said this would help to keep a vigil on garbage dumping in the river especially from cars. He also said that hit and run cases and thefts could also be detected through these cameras. He stressed that the Curti Khandepar Panchayat should also make proper provision for maintenance of the CCTV system and urged the village panchayat to install CCTV cameras at prime locations or junctions for overall security and also would help to keep vigil on other incidents such as chain snatching in the village.
