VASCO: Mormugao Deputy Collector Sachin Dessai on Wednesday informed that Khariwado containment zone has been denotified as no fresh COVID cases were detected.
“However, one area in Khariwado, which has been kept as micro containment zone, will be opened by August 20 if there are no fresh COVID-19 cases,” Dessai said. He said, “Khariwado was earlier a major containment zone like Mangor Hill as several COVID cases were detected a month ago. Now, with no active COVID cases, the district administration has decided to denotify the Khariwado area.”
Dessai said, “There is one micro containment zone in the Khariwado area as cases pertaining to three-four houses have not completed 14 days period. Once it is finished, as per the MHA guidelines, the area will be opened,” he added.
It may be recalled that Khariwado locals along with the Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida had urged the district administration to denotify the containment zone.
